A critical component of the project success will be the application of effective Project Management and Controls. Project Controls entails the system that gives the project team early warning of deviations to the baseline project parameters. It assists in comparing actual performance with planned performance, analysing variances, assessing trends to effecting process improvements, evaluating possible alternatives and recommending appropriate corrective action as needed. The two most critical components are the Cost and Schedule controls

To ensure that course attendees can understand and implement the following:

  • Project strategy, undertaking planning and methods studies to help the PM optimise future outcomes
  • Scheduling including development, updating and maintenance;
  • Cost estimation, cost engineering/control and value engineering
  • Risk management, including maintaining the risk register and risk analysis/assessment
  • Earned Value Management and Earned Schedule, including WBS, OBS and other breakdown structures,
  • Document control
  • Forensic Assessment for required diagnosis of schedule and cost
  • Supplier performance measurement / oversight (but excluding contract administration)
  • The course also prepares individuals to take up professional certifications awith bodies like AACEI, APMG and PMI
